also known as is Bravo’s reality TV series following the personal and professional live of crew members who work an reside aboard a superyacht in the Mediterranean Sea. The show is the second series in the franchise, which also includes the original , as well as , Below Deck Down Under , and .

Much of the drama in Season 8 involves the feud between chief stew Tumi Mhlongo and third stew Natalya Scudder. Tumi was previously a second stew on Below Deck Down Under Season 1, while Natalya wasa second stew on Season 7. The drama on Season 8 started after Tumi, who missed the first charter due to a visa issue, replaced Natalya as chief stew once she came on the boat and demoted her to third stew. For the first charter, Natalya was the chief stew as Tumi and second stew Kyle Viljoen were still sorting out their visas.

“Clearly she did a great job on the charter and I would be excited to work with someone like that. But also, how would she like it if someone started going off the way she did in the beginning? I am sure she wouldn’t like it at all,” Tumi said in a confessional interview. “Be kind but don’t let them walk all over you.”

After a fight on board over how well Natalya cleaned the guests’ cabins, Captain Sandy Yawn called both Tumi and Natalya to the bridge, where she threatened to fire them both if they didn’t get along. “You haven’t given her a fair chance. I can’t tolerate this,” Sandy told Natalya before addressing Tumi: “You’re in a leadership role and you need to rise above because right now I am ready to put you both off the boat.” So… does Tumi get fired on and what happens between her and Natalya? Read on for if Tumi or Natalya get fired on

Does Tumi get fired on ?

Does Tumi get fired on Season 8? The answer is unclear, however, it doesn’t seem likely. In an interview on in October, Captain Sandy named Tumi as the chief stew with the strongest communication skills she’s worked with throughout her time on .

She also listed Tumi as one of three chief stews that she’s stayed in touch with since working together on Below Deck Mediterranean, so it doesn’t seem likely that Captain Sandy fired her this season. (The other chief stews were Katie Flood from Season 6, and Bugsy Drake from Season 2 and 5.) She also included Tumi in the chief stews that she would want to work with again.

Though she had a lot of compliments for Tumi, Captain Sandy also acknowledged that Tumi came onto with a negative impression of Natalya, which caused drama between them from the start. “Obviously, somebody talks out of both sides of the mouth and when they come onto the boat, these people already have that in their head, so they’re already against each other they meet, so I think that’s what happened,” Captain Sandy said.

Captain Sandy also commended Natalya for continuing on after she was demoted from chief stew to third stew. “She did an awesome job. She knew what she was stepping into, and I am so grateful for her,” she said.

Tumi — who was raised in Johannesburg, South Africa, and is the first Black chief stew in history — fired back at racist comments from viewers in a series of Instagram Stories in October. “you were CLEARLY a diversity hire, not a merit based hire. You should be shamed by those before you who earned it, and ashamed of yourself,” a user wrote in a direct message to Tumi, who screenshotted the message and posted it on her Instagram Story.

Tumi captioned the screenshot, “I have been silent but I am tired of your racist comments. All you doing is proving everything we have been saying for years !!!!! Enough is enough!!!” She continued in another Instagram Story, “This is a final warning. I will put you on blast on by one. Enough now!!!! You don’t have to like me but bringing my race is a step way to far !!!!”

Tumi called out the lack of diversity in the yachting industry in Episode 3 of Season 8. “There is a massive lack of diversity in yachting, and the reason why it doesn’t get spoken about is because they keep defending it,” she said in a confessional interview. “And it’s like, ‘Yeah, I worked with a Black deckhand.’ OK, but have you worked with a Black first officer? OK, have you worked with a Black captain?”

She continued, “Yes, there are people of color in the industry, but they’re put in certain positions where they’re not seen. I know a lot of people [who] don’t want to come into the industry because they feel like they would never be given the opportunity. So, here I am like, ‘Bitch, if you fight hard, you can do it.'”
